Oahu real estate is diverse; making the island a great place to call home for a wide range of people, including families, couples and singles. If you’re in the market for Oahu real estate, read on to find out what to expect when you move to the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu.

Oahu provides residents with the best of nature, culture and plenty of exciting things to do for entertainment. But if you’re thinking about moving to Oahu, Hawaii, there are a few things you will have to get used to, such as limited transportation and the ancient Hawaiian language.

The transportation in Oahu is limited to cars and the bus system. Although the bus system runs through the entire island, it is important to consider where you will be working and whether a car is the best method of transportation for the route. Oahu does get busy during peak hours and just like any major city, traffic can be a problem. Consider whether you will buy, rent or ship a car to the island.

Language can also be a barrier, but it doesn’t have to be. Although most Oahu residents and locals speak English, you’re sure to come across island slang and many people speaking the ancient Hawaiian language or the Olelo Hawaii. Before you visit Oahu or move there, consider learning basic words so that you’re familiar with the language. Becoming more familiar with the Hawaiian language will help you feel more at home in your new place.
